At the end of 2019, Springer published the “Manual of Digital Earth”, the first comprehensive book that summarizes the current status of the Digital Earth concept, its implementation and development. In the proposed article provides short description of the results of long-term work on the preparation of this Manual, analyzes the results achieved, and characterizes development of the Digital Earth, especially in Russia. The perspective tasks facing the scientific community are outlined.
